Presidential election years are a time to reflect on the job the current president has done and to choose the person that is most fitting for his replacement.   This year we have two candidates from the same party going at each others throat…. Proving that at least that party does not have its act together enough to have two candidates that can not only work for the common goal of getting one or the other elected, but they resort to mud slinging like school yard brats.   Do you really want one of them as your President? Then you have the other candidate that is just a cleaned up shiny new version of what we have in office, perhaps with a higher understanding of the English language.  

 

I personally feel that the United States really does allow you to choose the person you feel is the better candidate and vote for them.   I have been told by several people that my vote would be wasted if I voted for the person that I choose, but if half of the United States wasted a vote for the candidate that they chose, and then perhaps that candidate would be President and could make some positive changes to the way that this country is going.

This song just relates how 2007 made me feel...

The power of the mind is immeasurable, things that were thought to be impossible have come to pass through thoughts creating actions and then things become possible. And there are times where everything bad is mounting up around you and it seems that you can not break through. There in lies the trick, it is impossible to break through if you do not believe you can…. Your mind is working against you. Believe it… Know it… Feel it… and it will happen you will break through! Don’t focus on how it will happen, just know it will… and the “how” will fall into place, I think as a people we have forgotten this.

Mind and matter work in conjunction with one another, and if you focus on nothing but negative things then that is all you are going to attract. Be grateful for all the positive things that are in your life, thank the stars for every thing that is going right, and know that that the negative is on its way out… fill your being with positive energy, and light… and then you will attract nothing but positive things.

It will do good to remember this, it will make you feel better… and things will get better.

Sometimes you have to find yourself. And when you do you realize that you may have lost what you wanted in the first place. And you find your self missing something, like a kiss or a word and you hate yourself for not being more forgiving. By then you realize that the one you hurt will never want you. And you know that when you face the uncertain horizon you do so with love that will never fade, but will always grace the intended from afar.

Driving in Jackson Mississippi

If your Jackson map is more than a few weeks old, throw it out and buy
a new one. If you're in Madison or Pearl and your map is one day old,
then it is already obsolete.

Forget the traffic rules you learned elsewhere. Jackson has its own
version of traffic rules.

All directions start with "Get on State Street " which has no beginning
and no end. Everything in Jackson is "just off State."

The morning rush hour is from 6 to 10. The evening rush hour is from
3 to 7. Friday's rush hour starts Thursday morning.

If you actually stop at a yellow light, you will be rear ended,
cussed out and possibly shot.

When you are the first one on the starting line, count to five when the light turns green before going to avoid crashing with all the drivers running the red light in cross-traffic.

Darting back and forth from one lane to another with no signal is
considered reckless driving in most other cities, but it is business as usual in Jackson .

Stop signs are considered "suggestions" only and "yield" signs are
ignored altogether.

Travel on I-220 is only recommended for the brave and daring or those
who figure they have nothing to live for anyway.

Construction on I-20 is a way of life and a permanent form of entertainment.

All unexpected or strange sights are explained by the phrase, "Oh, we're in Madison ."

If someone actually has a turn signal on, it is probably a factory defect.

All old ladies with blue hair in Mercedes have the right of way. PERIOD.

The Traffic Circle near the Jackson-Evers Airport is not for the faint
of heart.

Highway I-55 North near the Waterworks Curve in rush hour is the
Jackson equivalent of NASCAR. Just shut up and drive like the rest of us.

If asking directions around West Jackson , you better be armed.

The minimum acceptable speed on I-55 South, heading north from Crystal
Springs, Terry, and Byram is 85 until you reach the Savannah Street
exit where the speed drops to 20 MPH or to a dead stop.

If it's 100 degrees, Thanksgiving must be next weekend.
If it's 10 degrees and snowing, everything comes to a screeching halt.
If it's rained 6 inches in the last hour, and it is spring, it's opening day for the Braves.
If it is fall, the Mississippi State Fair is going on and a cold snap is expected.

All amusement parks, stadiums, arenas, race tracks, airports, etc.,
are conveniently located as far away from EVERYTHING as possible so as
to allow for ample parking on grassy areas.

With these simple rules in mind, you are now ready to drive in Jackson .
